We’re Sarah Jayne Lees and Paddy O’Neill, a couple who met in Cheltenham, England during University. After two years living and working in London we decided that we wanted to leave city life (and our cat
) behind and see some of the world. When we were researching our route we found other peoples’ blogs so helpful, so we decided to write one of our own to record the things we see and learn along the way. We also thought that a travel blog would be a great way to document our adventures; so The Backpack Diary was born! Enjoy!

Meet PaddyI likes cold beers, wide landscapes and ancient ruins – sometimes all at the same time. Steak is my favourite food group. I’m putting my job in digital marketing on hold to go exploring and soak up some culture. That’s not to say I’ll be giving up the internet entirely, this website seemed like a good excuse to hunt some Wifi occasionally. “Not all those who wander are lost”. Read Paddy’s Posts.
Meet SarahI have a thing for maps, so one of my favourite holiday pass-times is exploring a new city. Give me food and beer (and a map) and I’ll be happy. After a few years working in Marketing for a corporate finance firm I’ve had about as much as I can take of London (for now). Travelling is a good way to push your boundaries and experience new things, just don’t make me do a bungee jump. I’m now the owner of a wellness store called Lotus&you. Read Sarahs’ Posts.
